Welcome Newcomers!
This page is a basketball safe haven. It is unbiased, unblemished and untouched by the toxicity that often surrounds NBA media. We focus primarily on Role Players and group them into two distinct categories: Risers and Fallers. You won’t be able to gather these assumptions from a box score, and especially not from NBA talkshows. Each team also gets their own “Role Player of the Month” throughout the season. So whether you are a super-fan of your hometown team, an AVID Fantasy Basketball manager, or simply a sports nerd wanting to sharpen your knowledge: please enjoy my “Hot Takes”.
Why does this page exist?
Here at Stringer’s Hot Takes, we are giving the unsung heroes of the basketball court the credit they deserve: Role Players. If you are tired of mainstream media only focusing on narrative-based takes and oversaturated stories about star players then congratulations because you found us.
About the Author
My name is Christian Stringer and I am a 23 year old college student, and yes, I am obsessed with the NBA. Born and raised in a city outside of Dallas, I naturally gravitated towards the Mavericks at a young age. My favorite players growing up were never the big names though. Obviously we had Dirk Nowitzki (shoutout German Jesus – I miss you), but besides him the Mavs were always comprised of a gritty group of role players who gave their all night in and night out. Rooting for players like Jason Terry, JJ Barea, and Ian Mahinmi only led to furthering my appreciation for the unsung heroes of the league. I also happen to be a massive LeBron fan since he originated my love for basketball (yes, I rooted against him in 2011), but my favorite teammates of his weren’t D-Wade or Kevin Love. They were Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Jae Crowder, and Iman Shumpert. These guys may not have garnered the media attention that others did, but when you watched the games… you could see it. The impact they had on each and every game, whether it was hustling for a loose ball or knocking down a momentum-shifting corner 3, did not go unnoticed. I created this site to try and share my affinity for these guys to the rest of you.
